Since 1965 Calgary Meals on Wheels has been a trusted community resource committed to ensuring affordable and nutritious meals reach some of our most vulnerable community members through our three program pillars: Home Delivery, Schools and Community. In 2023, we provided more than a million meals for the second consecutive year, supporting 4,200 students across 50 schools, serving 2,300 unique clients through our home delivery program, and 39 community groups.

As we enter our 60th year of operation the demand for our services is ever increasing. With 1 in 4 Albertan households and 30% of children experiencing food insecurity, the need to expand our facility is more pressing than ever.

The Calgary Meals on Wheels production facility in Calgary’s Southeast is at capacity for frozen meal inventory, which is impeding our ability to take on additional clients. When our current facility was built in 2013, Alberta’s food insecurity rate was 11%, and we produced approximately 376,000 meals annually. Today, the latest data shows that Alberta's food insecurity rate has surged to approximately 27%. We have seen a steady rise in demand for our services, and we are now producing over 1 million meals annually—three times what we did in 2013.

We will be expanding our facility to keep pace with the growing demand for our services, which we could not do without funds raised at the 2025 Willow Park Charity Golf Tournament. This capital expansion will involve building a new freezer and cooler onto our current facility for an additional 795 sq ft of freezer space and 795 sq ft of cooler space. Once complete this will allow us to provide an additional 180,000 meals to vulnerable community members each year.

We are absolutely thrilled and honored to be chosen as the Recipient Charity for the 2025 Willow Park Charity Golf Classic. We are profoundly grateful to Willow Park for championing such a worthwhile cause on behalf of the Club and its members. Through this tournament and your generous support, we are confident that we can raise the necessary funds to expand our facility and continue feeding those in need. Our facility will continue to be a beacon of hope for years to come with your support.
