Adopt-A-Route
Calgary Meals on Wheels is very fortunate to offer Adopt-A-Route to corporate groups, church groups or service groups who dedicate their time to volunteering in their community, to help deliver nutritious meals to those in need of our services.
Our Calgary Meals on Wheels Volunteer team works with a designated coordinator who schedules 1-3 volunteers weekly or bi-weekly to deliver in the community.
The time commitment is approximately 1 to 2 ½ hours, between 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM.
A group of at least 10 volunteers per adopt-a-route is recommended, as that allows each person to participate about once every 5 weeks.
Adopt-A-Route Coordinator plays a crucial role in the management and scheduling of their volunteers and timely communication with the Calgary Meals on Wheels Volunteer team.
Adopt-A-Route Coordinator must submit a police and vulnerable sector check, which can be done online and free of charge with a letter we supply you.
Adopt-A-Route Coordinator is responsible for gathering and submitting the information required for all new Adopt-A-Route volunteers and letting us know when someone is no longer volunteering and when someone new joins the team. We also send out a communication to our volunteers every month (notice or newsletter).
Training is provided for the Adopt-A-Route team
