Meet the People Behind the Meals: An Introduction to Chef Mark

Meet Mark Naphin, our new executive chef at Calgary Meals on Wheels. Mark has an extensive culinary background and has been working as a chef for more than 20 years. From working in catering companies to resorts in the Bahamas, Mark can make a huge variety of dishes and has amazing knife skills to match too.

In addition to being a chef, Mark is also a passionate endurance athlete trainer. By being both a trainer and a chef, one of Mark’s most important values while making food is creating a nutritious and balanced meal. One of Mark’s goals is to bring together his passion and his skills as a chef to create nutritious meals for Calgary Meals on Wheels clients and help build a healthier community.

“It’s nice being able to make food knowing that it’s for people in the community who may be in need of better nutrition”

Every day Mark and his team are making over 3800 meals, and to ensure that every meal is up to the highest standard Mark always emphasizes teamwork. From the loading dock to the packaging station, Mark and his team of talented kitchen staff make sure that at each stage every ingredient and dish is checked over, ensuring proper procedures and cooking methods are used every time. Throughout the process, each meal that gets made is checked for quality control by 6 to 8 different people before it’s packaged for delivery.

“I couldn’t have done it without my team behind me”
