More than a Meal: Christmas Cheer Program

Santa has some help again this year! Since 2010, we have proudly partnered with Seniors Secret Service to bring some extra joy to our clients through the Christmas Cheer Program. Our caring volunteers nominate clients on their routes who they feel could use some extra holiday cheer, and then the Elves at Senior Secret Service work hard to get all the gifts donated from the community.The gifts arrived at our office this week, so now our hallway looks like Santa’s Workshop with all the bright colours and festive packaging. Today our volunteers started delivering the gifts to more than 200 of our clients, and the appreciation has already started pouring in.

Calgary Meals on Wheels clients have also been the recipient of holiday stockings made from students at F. E. Osborne Junior High School. Under the direction of their leadership class, homerooms came together to put together stockings, which included items such as toothbrushes, gloves, puzzle books and gift cards.
