Donor Highlight: Husky Has Heart
Husky Energy has been a long-time supporter of Calgary Meals on Wheels in many capacities; from funds raised from employee-led initiatives to lunch bags donated to our Hot Soup Program students. In 2016 we were fortunate to be part of Husky’s annual giving campaign, Husky Has Heart this is a two-week, employee-led campaign that raises money via employee and corporate donations for 10 local charities employees voted to support.
“Husky Has Heart is an example of how the power of many people can make a huge impact on their community. It also creates awareness of the needs within our city and encourages employee engagement in the corporation’s decision on how to help address these needs. It is a great campaign!” – Stephanie Ralph, Fund Development Manager.
On November 28th, we were invited to Husky as part of the charity tradeshow for the campaign. This gave us a chance to talk with employees, share more about our mission and programs and listen to why employees felt our organization was an important part of our social safety net. We even had a little time to learn about the other charities taking part in the campaign. “The trade show launches our campaign and provides an opportunity for our employees to ask questions and get more engaged with the agencies they voted to support,” commented Michelle Harries, Business Manager, Community Investment.
Calgary Meals on Wheels is extremely grateful for the donation that resulted from the Husky Has Heart.
The support from the campaign will assist in delivering more than 3300 meals to the doors of our clients in 2017
