Darrell has had a few challenges in his life and using Calgary Meals on Wheels home meal delivery program has been a saving grace for him. Since October 2021, Darrell has been ordering a lunch and supper meal combo for all seven days of the week.

Darrell suffers from sciatica, and it is too painful for him to stand for any length of time. His worker and him discussed options on how to better address his needs and it was suggested Darrell sign up for Calgary Meals on Wheel’s programs.

He mentions that not having a deep freezer, buying frozen meals are not an option for him. Receiving freshly made food Monday through Friday, from the volunteers at Calgary Meals on Wheel’s is the best solution for him and anyone who has mobility issues or can’t cook.

“I am eating more nutritiously for sure. Otherwise, I would open a can of food which is not that healthy.” he mentioned. “The portions are perfect, the desserts are fantastic, and the soups are really good.”

Darrell attributes to feeling better because of the nutrition he is receiving from the variety of meals he is receiving from Calgary Meals on Wheels.
