How a Rodeo Inspired our Meatballs with BBQ Sauce

This past summer, we had the opportunity to be part of Enmax’s Linesman Rodeo. This event was attended by over 1000 people who came out to watch teams of linesmen compete in a myriad of events such as the Obstacle Pole Climb and Crossarm Replacement Race. It was a beautiful day for families to cheer on their loved ones as they competed, as well as a chance to interact with some of the organizations that Enmax supports through The United Way.

When Calgary Meals on Wheels got invited, Enmax asked us to bring some food for people to try. We had a limited time-frame, but we’re always eager to experiment and try something new! We took our classic, popular meatballs and paired them with our house-made sweet & tangy BBQ sauce, instead of our usual mushroom sauce.

To our delight—it was a huge success! Not only did the families love the tender beef meatballs, but some of the linesmen competitors themselves kept coming back for seconds and thirds! Our entrees average about 25 grams of protein, which is crucial for fueling activities like climbing electrical poles.

The meatballs were so well received, we decided to bring that meal to Our Chef’s Daily Special and the My Choice Menu as a frozen entrée option.
