Thank You Qualico Communities
Our cause is fuelled by an amazing team of dedicated volunteers and passionate donors, all of whom share our vision for Calgary – a community where everyone has access to nutritious meals. This fall, we were proud to welcome new members to our team helping further our mission - Qualico Communities.
We are happy to align with community minded organizations like Qualico Communities, who share our values and understand that by delivering kindness and caring, we can build a stronger community. Throughout the month of November they contributed both time and treasure, supporting the health and independence for Calgarians in need.
Throughout November, different members from Qualico arrived to our home to prepare for a day of delivery volunteering with Calgary Meals on Wheels. Like many first-time guests, they were shocked to see our kitchen and production facility and to learn more about the scope of our programs – serving students and groups in addition to our core Home Meal Delivery Program. Our volunteer manager Desiree toured each new volunteer and walked them through what to expect for the day on their delivery route. In total, these rock stars visited 84 homes across the city, bringing meals along with a friendly visit and their smiling faces.
On their final day of volunteering, one particular individual who returned to volunteer for a second time had a surprise for us. She remembered when Desiree had joked “Please let me know if your pen doesn’t work – this is an old bag of mismatch pens, we are non-profit after all”, and brought with her a box of Qualico pens for our team!! This thoughtful gesture warmed our hearts and reminded us that together we are all superheroes working towards a stronger, caring community!!
After contributing financially, the team members from Qualico Communities were eager to learn more about our work and support our cause on a personal level. It was a wonderful opportunity for the staff members of Qualico to witness first-hand the impact of their gift. These volunteers shared a recurring sentiment; that their favourite part of the experience was meeting the people receiving meals, seeing the smiles on their faces, and seeing the impact it had for our clients, many of whom are seniors.
