Quick Flatbread Pizza for Everyone

In honor of YYC Pizza Fest, we are sharing a quick and easy recipe for flatbread pizza that can be adapted to suit everyone’s tastes and preferences for toppings. Including some vegetables will add fibre, vitamins, and minerals to your meal. This recipe uses whole grain tortillas for even more fibre and a crispy thin crust.

Serve with a side of a green salad or crunchy vegetable sticks to add even more nutrients. Happy eating!

INGREDIENTS

Crust

4 small whole wheat flour tortillas

Sauce

1/4 cup of your favourite bottled pasta sauce

1 tsp Italian seasoning

1 clove garlic, minced

Toppings

1 small red bell pepper, chopped            

3/4 cup chopped fresh mushrooms

1/4 cup protein of your choice (chopped leftover lean ham / roast turkey / chicken)

1 cup shredded part skim mozzarella

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1: Prepare crust

Place tortillas on large baking sheet in a single layer; set aside.

Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F)

Step 2: Make flavourful sauce.

In a small bowl, stir together pasta sauce, Italian seasoning, and minced garlic.

Spread evenly among tortillas.

Step 3: Add toppings

Sprinkle each tortilla with chopped red pepper, chopped mushrooms, and protein of your choice (chopped ham/ turkey / chicken).

Top with mozzarella.

Step 4: Bake

Bake in oven for about 8 minutes or until cheese is melted.
