Volunteer for Calgary Meals on Wheels

Volunteers make Calgary Meals on Wheels the amazing organization it is today!

Volunteers deliver not only meals but also flowers, birthday gifts, Christmas gifts, and invoices. Volunteer opportunities are not limited to meal delivery and include assisting with accounting, client services, events, reception and various other projects that come along.

We appreciate the dedication and compassion our volunteers bring, so we hold special events throughout the year to say thanks. Volunteers also receive automatic membership in our society, although participation is not mandatory. The most important benefit of volunteering is knowing that you are building a stronger community.

The screening process includes: references, a police background check, role specific orientation and training. Once the application process is completed, you will be matched to the volunteer opportunity that best fits your interests and schedule. Please note that we conduct a thorough screening process and it may take upwards to 6 weeks to complete.

Below are the steps for our application process

1.  Begin by filling in application found on the CMOW website or in person. The online application form can be found here: https://mealsonwheels.com/volunteer-sign-up/.

Questions include whether you have ever been charged or convicted of an offense or had any incidents with the law, are available during the required time frame for the program you have applied for etc. During this time, you will also be given your personalized police check letter and instructions for completing the Calgary Police Information Check (CPIC)

Our application process is rather thorough because we are required to evaluate a wide range of variables that we believe to be crucial to the success of applicants in our program and the wellbeing of our clients. Please note- Although we encourage all people to apply, only those who successfully complete our screening and training process will be placed into a volunteer role.
