Calgary Meals on Wheels is a not-for-profit organization that delivers approximately 2,480 meals each day, more than 572,000 meals a year to Calgarians in need. While our well-known Home Meal Delivery Programs serves our principal clients; we have three programs which serve individuals, families, school children and community groups.

We are currently hiring for the dynamic role of Marketing & Communications Coordinator to support our organizations external and internal communications. This individual will report to the Fund Development Manager. The successful candidate would be an energetic, self motived, results oriented individual who can collaborate well with a team, work well independently and communicate ideas concisely to a variety of audiences.
The main functions of the Marketing & Communications Coordinator are to help develop and promote organizational-branding initiatives consistent with business, strategic goals and objectives by supporting each department with their marketing and communication needs. They maximize brand value through the development of ancillary revenue streams and new opportunities.

The successful candidate must be efficient in working with Adobe Suite as well as external designers, writers, editors and other creative staff to produce marketing collateral; have the ability to develop marketing plans within budget requirements and have excellent PC skills. As a representative of Calgary Meals on Wheels, the successful candidate must represent themselves with a high level of professionalism both inside and outside the office. The role requires some overtime and evening availability for special events.

Requirements:
• University degree in marketing/communications or related field
• 2 – 3 years work experience in a marketing & communications role, ideally in not-for-profit
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Direct experience with all areas of Adobe Suite; must be able to create and complete original design and video projects
• Excellent PC skills
• This position supports all departments within the organization requiring superior time management skills, organization and multi-tasking skills
• Outstanding relationship building and maintenance abilities
• Prior website design and maintenance experience a must
• Experience with media relations, coordination and attendance of media opportunities
• Proven track record in creating and executing successful e-mail marketing, internet marketing and direct marketing programs
• Must have excellent social media knowledge including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Hootsuite, etc.
• Valid drivers license and clean police record

Receptionist/Junior Accounting Assistant

We are currently hiring for the role of Receptionist/Junior Accounting Assistant to work within our Finance & Human Resource department and report to the Finance & Human Resource Manager.  The successful candidate will be the face our organization – pleasantly greeting all visitors and callers with a friendly, cheerful demeanor, answering questions and transferring calls to the right person.  The successful candidate will hand junior level accounting tasks such as setting up new clients in the accounting system, taking and posting payments and credits, bank deposits, cash applications, journal entries and client payments between answering the phone.  Our Receptionist/Junior Accounting Assistant role requires excellent organizational skills, a great attitude and the ability to prioritize tasks.

Requirements

  • Previous reception work required – preference given to those who have experience with a multi-line phone system
  • 2 years of accounting experience required
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, including the ability to compose and edit emails and reports
  • Exceptional time management skills along with the ability to prioritize work effectively in keeping with deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships with all levels of internal and external stakeholders
  • Accuracy and attention to detail is essential
  • Ability and eagerness to adapt and grow with change and to accept new challenges and assignments
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills including being able to identify issues and resolve them in a timely manner

Marketing & Communications/Event Assistant (Summer Student)

We are currently hiring for the dynamic role of Marketing & Communications/Event Assistant to work within our amazing Fund Development team and report to the Fund Development Manager. This is a Summer Student job and the successful candidate must be returning to post-secondary education in the fall of 2018 to qualify.

The Marketing & Communications/Event Assistant will assist with website cleanup and development for two major events, assist in the design of branding in the facility, review and revise marketing collateral for 2018/2019 marketing campaigns and create social media content. In addition, the role will involve calling, interviewing and photographing clients and volunteers for written and online communication content and assist with the development of quarterly newsletter content. The Marketing & Communications/Event Assistant will provide logistical assistance for summer events as well as event data entry as needed.
The successful candidate will be an outgoing, organized, detail oriented, passionate individual and a great team player. They must be able to work independently as well as cohesively with community partners and volunteers.

Requirements:
• Currently enrolled in a post-secondary school program; preference will be given to those entering their 3rd+ year
• Prior website design experience is a must
• Proven track record in creating and executing successful e-mail marketing, internet marketing and direct marketing programs
• Must have professional social media knowledge including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint

General Kitchen Aide (Summer Student)

We are currently hiring for the role of General Kitchen Aide to work within our fast-paced Production team and report to the Production Manager. The successful candidate would be an energetic, self motived, results oriented individual who can prioritize tasks, take direction well and adaptable to assisting in other areas as needed. This is a Summer Student job and the successful candidate must be returning to post-secondary education in the fall of 2018 to qualify.

The main functions of the General Kitchen Aide are to work with our meal assembly team, assisting in the preparation, portioning and packaging of client menu items while following established safe food handling procedures. The ability to work on a fast-paced production line is essential.

The successful candidate must possess a great attitude, be punctual, a real team player and comfortable working in a cold environment.

Requirements:
• Currently enrolled in a post-secondary school program
• Proficient in spoken English
• Previous Food Service Aide experience an asset
• Must be comfortable standing for long periods of time
• Preference will be given to those who have previous Food Safety Training
• Knowledge of WHMIS standards
• Clean police record
